Winter Maintenance 2020

Suddenly it’s nearly 2020 and it seems like yesterday we were just finishing the Round the County Race in early November. Downrig happened as we motored south across the Straits and we unbent sails, took off booms, and readied the boat for the full boat cover to go on. Now it’s the Holiday Break and we’ll return in 2020 for a busy, short maintenance season.

On the list of to-do projects are the usual varnish items: wheel, binnacle, cockpit, cockpit table, fife rails, main hatch slider and rails, butterfly hatch and possibly main cabin table. Other extra below decks would be the pantry closet getting paint, and some exploration of leaks around the main hatch sliders.

Cabin sides (white) and trim (Martha green) would be a big project as well as the cabin top paint. During our September haulout much paint went on the covering boards, inner gunnels, and of course topside and bottom paint, as well as transom and boomkin varnish.

She is snuggled nicely in her slip inside Point Hudson Marina with her full boat cover on. The boat cover was made by Inger Rankins of Northwest Canvas.
