“What a turnout for the glue up party last week! with all of those hands helping, team Martha successfully glued the sides and aft face of the new main mast together. Thank you to all who lent a hand. Now they are dressing the mating surfaces in preparation for gluing on the quarter pieces and forward face.
The mast not only tapers in in shape but also tapers in wall thickness as it climbs towards the truck. Team Martha came up with a pretty neat way of handling this, instead of tapering the side walls before glue up, they profiled the aft piece but left the sides full thickness and gradually left the sides hang out past the edge of the aft piece, now all the have to do is plane the sides down to meet the aft piece and the desired wall thickness achieved.
Glue up of the forward face to the rest of the new mast is imminent so stay tuned.
