Needless to say Team MARTHA has been very busy.
We received word from Greg Stewart of Nelson / Marek Yacht Design, Inc. that MARTHA has exceeded the stability index,
I have very GOOD NEWS. The Martha easily meets the Cat 1 Race ORR Stability Index Limit of 115 required for the 2015 Transpac. In fact she came in at 129.7.
This of course is great news, we know from sailing MARTHA that she has a great deal of initial stability, “stiff”, but where does that end?
The answer is more than required by ISAF for stability in Category 1 events, thank you B.B Crowninshield, and Craig Johnsen MARTHA’s two architects.
The crew is busy with the new sail inventory, Main, Fisherman, Queen Fisherman, Jib, Genoa and Main Staysail, only the Fore Staysail and Storm Sails remain.
Thanks you to Challenge Sail Cloth, Douglass Jones, NorthWest Sails, Port Townsend Sails, Holly Kays, Anne Aldrich, Dr. Art Atkinson and Sandy Goodall.
MARTHA has received her new Winslow ISO Global Rescue Life Raft and 6 of her crew have just completed the US Sailing Safety at Sea Seminar.
It is an IASF regulation to complete the course but anyone interested in safety should consider taking the class, when you complete the two day event you receive a ISAF certificate good for 5 years.
Stay tuned and we will keep you informed as we prepare for the 2014/2015 MARTHA OffShore Adventure.
