The parts and pieces of Schooner Martha are slowly going back together. Our bowsprit is finally done with its annual winter maintenance. Removing hardware, sanding, varnishing, and re-assembling hardware without losing any parts and pieces –> 3 cheers for our awesome youth crew! 👏👏👏
The engine and shaft (see previous blog post with hull photos of shaft, prop line-up) will be fully re-assembled by the end of the weekend with new engine mounts and the trash pump mount re-welded (Thanks Rick Brendan!) and tolerances measured and triple-checked (one-thousandths of an inch with the help of a dial gauge!). Captain Emma and Robert have been busy with all the details of the overhaul of an engine that was installed ~20 years ago and will be running like new when we relaunch the boat in the next few months!
