Varnish prep has begun and the boat is a work space as we begin to pull in students from various groups to help with the labor as they learn about marine maintenance tools and skills.
We are grateful for Voyagers from Port Hadlock who came out for two Friday afternoons to assist with sanding our small boat Ryder, sanding the bowsprit in preparation for varnish, sanding blocks and varnishing, starting the cockpit varnish prep, and also moving the main boom into the shop. The main boom is over 25 feet long and requires many hands to move her.
We are hoping and planning to be uprigged by the end of March so we can begin our sailing season in April. Many of the races we take part in, are organized by the local Port Townsend Sailing Association: https://ptsail.org/
